TCAN1164-Q1: NC pin left floating or GND

Part Number: TCAN1164-Q1

Hi, for this device we see that the layout examples leaves the NC pins e.g. pin 9 floating.

Is there any risks involved connecting it to GND? This is what has been done at the moment.

What is our recommondation?

Please respond to both questions, thanks

  • Hi Khai,

Pin 9 used to be the Split pin on older transceivers that needed additional common mode biasing. However, modern transceivers no longer need this.

Pin 9 is not internally connected so no concerns tying GND. Our recommendation is to keep it floating though.
