TCA9548A: I2C short question

Part Number: TCA9548A

Can you tell me if the SDA or SCL lines on a downstream channel gets shorted on this switch will it pull down the master in line also if that output channel is selected?   Or are the master in SDA and SCL isolated from shorts on the 8 downstream pairs?

  • Hi Eric,

If the switch is off, it is in a high-z state, so there shouldn't be an effect on the master side. However, if the switch is open, it is possible that the voltage on the downstream channels could adversely affect the master (depending on the strength of the master PUs).

    Best,
    Katy
