TCAN1146-Q1: Ask for Ringing test report at the CAN Interface side

Hi Expert,

My customer is doing evaluations with TCAN1146-Q1, they show some ringing concerns at the CAN interface side, do you have related test data or certification documents.

  • Hi Jack,

    Ringing in a CAN bus network is due to improper CAN bus design. This is largely from improper termination. As such, we do not have any test data or certification documents since the root cause is not from the transceiver. 

    Please have the customer send a schematic of their system, a block diagram of how their CAN bus is organized (with termination values for each node), and then a waveform of the CAN bus while TCAN1146 is transmitting. 

    Also note that CAN SIC transceivers can help improve transmission. The CAN SIC version of the TCAN1146 is the TCAN1576.
