SN65DSI85-Q1: Connection to LMH0340

Part Number: SN65DSI85-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0340, DS90UB948-Q1, DS90UB941AS-Q1

Is it OK to connect SN65DSI85-Q1 to LMH0340 for the interface conversion from 4-lane DSI to SDI? Thx

  • Hi Quinn,

The SN65DSI-85 can be used to output single or dual channel LVDS. Each LVDS channel has 4 data lanes and one clock lane.

The input of the LMH0340 is single LVDS channel, with 5 data lanes and one clock lane.

Therefore, the DSI-85 can only be used with single LVDS channel, and 4 data lanes to pair with the LMH0340. Therefore, only 4 LVDs data lanes should be used, and one data lane should be left unused.

    Alternative solution:

Question: what is your full application required? Could you share the block diagram of what LMH serDes you are planning to use?

Will the LMH0340 be connected to another deserializer to output LVDS? Will the SDI connection be used with a cable between serializer and deserializer.

If your full conversion requires a serializer and deserializer, with cable connection between, and has DSI input and LVDS output. You could consider using the DS90UB941AS-Q1 (DSI serializer) with the DS90UB948-Q1 (LVDS deserializer).

  • Thanks for your response, Ikram.  I don't have the inside info of deserialized end that is a type of display with SMPTE compliant.  LMH0340 with 5 LVDS lanes + CLK.  If lane 4 is left unused, what is the output format of SDI stream? By the way, LMH0340 specifies LVDS as DDR, is it going to work with DSI-85?

  • Hi Quinn.

Could you tell us about the receiver/desedrializer display side? Is this a system that's already designed and was also previously paired with a LMH0340? What video interface was it previously using or planned for?

    Best regards,
    Ikram
