DS280DF810EVM: DS280DF810EVM: MXP connectors not installed for channels 4-7

Part Number: DS280DF810EVM

A follow-on to the question asked on:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1380019/ds280df810evm-mxp-connectors-not-installed-for-channels-4-7

(Apologies, but I cannot divulge much about the customer or application at present).

1.Is there any update to the answer:

DS280DF810EVM does not have the connector for CH4-7 populated.  Typically we would recommend that customers requiring CH4-7 work with their preferred CM to get CH4-7 populated

2a. Are you aware of people who have sucessfully done this? A second reflow on a board with such high data rates does not sound the best idea

2b. or, was the intention that the customer manufacture their own board based on the EVB gerbers and BOM?

3 Of course, it would be ideal if TI could offer the board with all four of the high-speed connectors populated. Clearly there is more than one customer asking about this.

  • Hi Daniel,

    1. There is not an update here.  In many cases, customer evaluation is handled on an individual channel level since each channel is identical.

2a. There is not a large demand for this, so it's not something I've received much feedback on.  I think we have worked with CMs in the past if rework like this is necessary.

2b. This is up to customers.  Customers are free to manufacture their own board if this seems like a better option than reworking the board.  Also, if the need is just for 8 independent channels, a second EVM can be purchased.

    3. Thanks for the feedback.  From our side, we don't receive this request very often.

    Thanks,

    Drew
