TRS3253E-EP: TRS3253E-EP Do-160G Technical Support

Part Number: TRS3253E-EP

Dear TI Support Team,

My name is Seungjoo Yoo, a Senior Engineer at Moasoft in South Korea.

We are currently designing a hardware system for a helicopter project using TRS3253E-EP.

This system must strictly comply with DO-160G Level 3 standards.

Our system includes RS-422 and RS-232 communication lines, and we need to implement robust hardware protection circuits to survive lightning-induced transients and surges as specified in DO-160G Section 22.

Does TI provide any official application notes, reference designs (including TVS diode selection and series resistance), or simulation data for DO-160G Level 3 protection for these interfaces?

If this requires sharing confidential information, please let me know so we can move this to a private thread.

Best regards,
Seungjoo Yoo

  • Hi Seungjoo,

Similar to your other post that I responded on, we do not have any data specifically for DO-160G testing on our RS-232 transceivers. You will need to ensure what the max voltage does not exceed 13.2V on the DOUT pins and 25V on the RIN pins (so 13.2V overall to simply). So whatever protection circuits you implement need to clamp under <13V.

    Best,

    Ethan
