SN65LVCP408: Can be connected to LVDS

Part Number: SN65LVCP408
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS25CP102

Hi, Experts.

If the Output of SN65LVCP408 can be directly connected to LVDS input? And how to connect LVDS output to the input of SN65LVCP408?

Regards

Powell

  • Hi Powell,

You should be able to provide an LVDS input to SN65LVCP408 since it's input threshold is +/-50mV and LVDS typically swings +/-350mV across a 100Ohm load. I would recommend AC-coupling if you are using the internal VBB bias. However, if you are wanting to connect the VML output of SN65LVCP408 to an LVDS receiver, you will need to check the receiver datasheet to make sure you aren't violating it's max voltage limits since VML outputs a higher voltage than LVDS. Since you are dealing with LVDS inputs and outputs, it would be better to use a dedicated LVDS switch like DS25CP102 to avoid these issues.

  • Okay, thank you very much, I understand.
