TCA9803: TCA9803DGKR I2C repeater external pull up on B-Side

Part Number: TCA9803

Hi Team,

We are currently using the TCA9803DGKR I2C repeater in our design.

The datasheet explicitly states that the B-side should not be connected to VCCB through an external pull-up resistor for proper operation.

However, to maintain compatibility with other I2C repeaters, our design includes pull-up options.

In our current design, 10k ohm pull up resistors have been mounted on the B-side.

Could you please clarify the specific risks associated with keeping these resistors mounted?

  1. What functional failures or communication issue should we expect?

  2. Should we  remove the 10k ohm  pull up resistance (or) this pull up resistance is high enough to be ignored?

We look forward to your technical guidance.

Thanks & Regards,

Indujha.
