TCAN1044V: Schematic Review - TCAN1044V-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1044V
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1044A-Q1

Hi TI Team,
Please find the schematic of CAN FD - TCAN1044VDRQ1 for review, Kindly share your valuable feedback on the same.

Project Details:

  • Segment: Passenger Car
  • Application: Cockpit Domain Controller
  • CAN Speed: 5 Mbps (CAN FD)
  • MCU I/O Voltage (VIO): 1.8 V

    1. Please confirm whether a 1/10 W termination resistor is sufficient for this CAN FD application, or if a higher power rating is recommended.
    2. Does standby mode and remote wake-up function reliably work with 1.8 V supply

  • Hi Amirthathaarani,

Would strongly recommend the A-version (TCAN1044A-Q1). The schematic looks good overall. If any concerns for 5 Mbps, would recommend to depopulate or reduce the 100 pF bus caps per your system needs. Furthermore, ensure the diode is placed after the bus caps as close as possible to the connectors as recommended by the data sheet's layout example.

    1. ≥ 0.5 W is typically recommended.

    2. Yes, all data sheet functions should function as mentioned while within the data sheet's recommended operating conditions, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.

  • Hi Michael,

Thank you for the review and recommendations.
