DP83869HM: Please help check the product application

Dear,

Here is a question about TI PHY chip DY83869.

I am going to use this chip as RGMII-SGMII bridge mode, while not connecting to an ethernet PHY. It will connect to an Ethernet switch with SGMII port. Like below pic.,

Q1, I guess it works, right?

Q2, Anything special I need take care of for the application like this?

Hi Anita,

Please ensure the PHY is properly strapped to RGMII-SGMII bridge. Other than that, everything should be okay. I would recommend SMI access if in case there is optimizations to be had on your application.

Hello,

This is correct. Please ensure for bridge mode that the latter MAC interface is setting the speed (SGMII in your highlighted case). The RGMII will follow based upon what the SGMII has auto-negotiated to.
