TUSB211A: EQ Level Information in TUSB211A Data Sheets and TUSB211RPTREVM User's Guide

Part Number: TUSB211A

  1. I could not find a clear information of EQ level 0. Is it by-pass/passing -thru mode (no signal compensation)?

  2. The only information about EQ level 0 is Table 8-3 on page 10 of TUSB211A data sheet. However, I thought there may be a typo there. The second column of the Recommended Settings table probably means EQ level 1 and 2 instead of level 0 and 1.
  • Hi Nick,

At EQ level 0, there will still be some boost being applied to the signal. the only "bypass mode" would be if the redriver were in reset. We don't have any hard set values for dB gain for each EQ level, but we do have some values gathered during testing just as an idea:

    AC Boost at 240MHz (typ)

    Boost 0: 3.0 dB
    Boost 1: 3.5 dB
    Boost 2: 4.7 dB
    Boost 3: 5.2 dB

The only information about EQ level 0 is Table 8-3 on page 10 of TUSB211A data sheet. However, I thought there may be a typo there. The second column of the Recommended Settings table probably means EQ level 1 and 2 instead of level 0 and 1.

This table is correct, we recommend starting at level 0 for shorter lengths and level 1 for longer lengths. Then, depending on the performance at these levels, EQ can be increased to level 2 or level 3 depending on the results.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • On Table 8-3. Table of Recommended Settings, Is the max cable length is still 5 meter even with Level 2 and Level 3?

  • Hi Nick,

Yes, the max would still be 5 meters at higher EQ levels. EQ 2 and EQ 3 would be able to help with hosts with weaker drive strengths meet that 5 meter requirement.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
