TCA9534: I/O not connected power consumption

Part Number: TCA9534

hi,

I would like to know if I set the not connected I/O pins to output low , the power consumption will be under 1uA ? and if I set them to output high ?  or to have the minimum power consumption I have to set them in input  with pull-up / pull-down ?

thanks

  • Hi Vincenzo,

The ICC(standby) current is characterized for I/O's configured to INPUTs. Holding these at VCC or GND produces the uA result.

For setting the NC I/O's to OUTPUT with no load, you would achieve similar results - however this is not a spec in the datasheet.

From my lab experience, setting an OUTPUT with no load reduces the power consumption similar to an input that is tied high or low through a pull-up resistor.

    Regards,
