Part Number: DS100BR111
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100BR210
The DS100BR111 and DS100BR210 devices share an IBIS-AMI model. It has been noted that there is a discrepancy between the CTLE boost values listed in the IBIS-AMI User's Guide and the corresponding boost values listed in the AMI file. This post highlights the differences in CTLE boost between nominal DS100BRxxx device behavior and the DS100BRxxx IBIS-AMI model.
The reason for this discrepancy is that the DS100BRxxx AMI file is based on the DS100KRxxx IBIS-AMI model, which is a similar device.
The table below compares the nominal DS100BRxxx device boost with the DS100BRxxx IBIS-AMI model. One key difference between DS100KRxxx and DS100BRxxx IBIS-AMI models is that the DS100BRxxx model has increased package insertion loss. The combined package RX and TX insertion loss of the DS100BRxxx is approximately 0.95 dB higher than that of the DS100KRxxx. This additional insertion loss has been subtracted from the DS100KRxxx AMI boost values to estimate the expected DS100BRxxx IBIS-AMI boost.

There is some limited remapping that can be done to improve the delta between nominal device boost and model boost. Specifically, for Datasheet EQ Index 5, AMI Model EQ Index 4 is more similar and results in reduced delta between datasheet and model boost. For other indices, remapping with the existing model does not improve the delta.
In general, the lowest and highest EQ indices have the highest delta between datasheet and model boost. For low EQ indices, the model will overequalize the signal, and for high EQ indices, the model will underequalize the signal.
