TCAN11625-Q1: nRST connection w/ MSPM0

Part Number: TCAN11625-Q1

Hello team,

Considering nRST connection with MSPM0(MPMSM0H8217-Q1), MSP datasheet says "TI recommends connecting an external 47kOhm pullup resistor with a 10nF pulldown capacitor for most applications, enabling the NRST pin to be controlled by another device or a debug probe", but TCAN11625 has internal pull-up resister to Vccout. In that case, can we remove external pull-up resister with 10nF pull-down capactor?

  • Hi Youhei,

The 240 KOhm internal pullup inside the TCAN11625 nRST pin is a weaker pullup compare to that 47KOhm external pullup resistor, although it does not require an external pullup resistor or decoupling capacitor, the internal pullup works more like a fail-safe mechanism to ensure the nRST is high. As the MSPM0 datasheet requires a 47KOhm &10nF, you should still place them on the MCU side. The capacitor should be placed as close to the pin as possible.

  • Hello Sean,

    Understood. Thank you.
