We are in the design phase of our project in which we are using the part TCAN1044AVDRBRQ1

In the above application circuit, capacitors are connected individually to a common ground. I need to confirm whether this capacitors are need to connected together as given below:

please confirm the above and also please share the necessary details for designing esd protection in CAN bus(TCAN1044A-Q1)?

Hi Midhuna,

That seems to be similar where the caps are connected to the same GND while connected to their respective CANH / CANL terminal.

For ESD please see ESD2CAN24-Q1 (placed as close as possible to the connector) or check with the protection device team if a newer recommendation is available, thanks.

For ESD, we need an automotive part number. Can i Consider PESD2CANFD27L-T?

Does this capacitors are necessary or optional in this design?

Can u help me to connect protection device team for further details?

Hi Midhuna,

Unfortunately, I cannot speak for competitor device. I checked with the team and they seem to have ESD2CAN27-Q1 (estimated with about half / better line capacitance than competitor) on their roadmap for the EOY and may reach out to them directly via their mailing list or E2E (INT-PD) for more information.

The caps are optional per system needs, thanks.
