SN65LVP20: SN65LVP20 to TLK1521 connection

Part Number: SN65LVP20

We need to connect to old obsolete TLK1521 Serdes input , because TLK1521 is obsolete we are using a SN65LVP20 Serdes LVPECL output instead.

Can you help us understand what are the recommendation for such connection  :

  1. What is the recommended termination on the SN65LVP20 side ? we understand that we need to put pull down to GND on TXP & TXN , is it correct ? if yes what shell be the pull down value ?
  2. I understand that there is internal termination in the TLK1521  :

Do we need to add additional termination on the receiver side ?

  1. The TLK1521 is 2.5V supply operation , What shell be the supply voltage for the SN65LVP20 : 2.5V or 3.3V ?
  2. Do you have a IBIS model for SN65LVP20 for 2.5V operating , the current IBIS model in the website is for 3.3V ?
  3. Shell we put series capacitor on the P & N  signal between the 2 ICs ? if yes 100nF value o.k. ?
  4. Please add any other info if I missed something .

  • Hi, Ohad.

Could you clarify the use case for replacing the devices? I'm not entirely sure how you would replace the TLK1521 SerDes device with SN65LVP20 since TLK1521 is a SerDes and SN65LVP20 is a buffer.

    Best,
