ESD321: Is the cathode of the ESD321DYAR pin 2?

Hello, Customer Support Team,

Could you please confirm whether the cathode of the ESD321DYAR (SOD-523) is pin 2? Also, is pin 2 the pin on the left side of the top marking “1L8,” in other words, the side of the “1”? Is the pin with the circular notch at the upper right of the “8” the anode side?

I have one additional question. Regarding the TAPE AND REEL specifications for the ESD321DYAR, does “Pin1 Quadrant = Q1” as stated in the datasheet mean that pin 1 is on the side of the Sprocket Holes?

Yes Yasuo that is what it means. Pin1 is in quadrant Q1 for ESD321DYAR which is on the side of the Sprocket Holes.

However, I have one concern I’d like to clarify.

I understand that pin 1 of the ESD321DYAR corresponds to Q1, but what do Q2, Q3, and Q4 mean?

I’d also like to ask why a part with only two pins is assigned quadrants.

Hi Yasuo,

The picture showing the other quadrants is just shown as reference. Customers use the quadrant of the pin as reference for whenever they automate their manufacturing processes. It is important to know what is pin1 in the reel because this is a unidirectional device, so you would not want to place this incorrectly.
