TIOL1113: Re: IEC 61131-9 Standard Compliance

Part Number: TIOL1113
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-010016, TIOL111, TIOL1123, TIOL221

Could you please just check and clarify that, a TIOL113 chipset is IEC 61131-9 complaint or not?

If yes, then can share more details on that ( e.g. which type of test are performed or which kind of things are following the IEC 61131-9 standard.)

As of now according with the datasheet, we are able to show that only COM rate is only thing which follow the IEC 61131-9 standard.

So could you please share more details in this matter, it can potentially help us to validate and the finalize the parts.

Waiting for your prompt response for the same.

  • Hello Denish,

Yes the TIOL113 is an IO-Link Compliant device and meets the physical layer specifications of the IO-Link Standard.  These devices have been tested to the these specifications, and adopted in numerous applications that have passed compliance testing with 3rd party IO-Link Test Centers.

If you feel there are particular parameters that are not compliant, please let me me know which specific parameters you are concerned about.

    Regards,

    Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the clarification, it's really help us for the evaluation.

Could you please share any specific application note or document in which we can get the details of the test and test result accordance with the IEC-61139-2 standard?

    Thanks,

    Denish

  • Hi Denish,

IO-Link compliance testing is done at the product level, and not at the transceiver level.  We can't simply send the TIOL1113 transceiver to an IO-Link Competency Center for certification. Certainly the The Physical Layer specifications of the voltage levels, rise/fall times, etc. are related to the TIOL1113 driver, and the relevant properties for those tests are listed in the device datasheet.

The closest documents I can refer to you are in the 8 Port IO-Link Master Reference Design TIDA-010016 (Link) that uses the TIOL111 for the Physical Layer Transceiver.  The Design Guide (Link) contains some specific test results, and TMG tested and provided a Test Report (Link) that declares this reference design complies with the essential requirements of the listed specifications.

TEConcept and TMG are two IO-Link Competency and Test Center companies that provide IO-Link firmware stacks that support the TIOL111x transceivers.  Further evidence of compliance may come from the fact that both these companies provide stacks for the TIOL111x, which would not be expected if the transceivers were unable to meet the compliance testing of the IO-Link Standard.

However, I don't have a specific application note that is exactly what you are asking for.  You may find other relevant information that interests you in the design guides for the various TIOL111x TI Reference Designs on TI.com.

The TIOL1113 is a fairly old device, and the TIOL1112x and TIOL221 transceivers are newer and also meet the IO-Link standard requirements.  The TIOl1123 is pin for pin compatible with the TIOL1113 and may worth your consideration.

  • Hello Jonathan,

    Thanks for the clarification.

I will check will open this thread if require.
