The design checklist recommends an 0805 package for the CM termination.
I would like to understand wheather this package specification is hard requirement or if it can be replaced with an 0402 package of the same value

    Hi Nanje,

    This is a strict requirement. The requirement is based off of Open Alliance system implementation specification. Generally parts with size 0805 or grader meet this specification.    

    The EMC testing and qualification for DP83TG721 is also done with 0805 size package for CM termination.
