SN65LVDT14: IC operation at -55C

Dear Sir/Madam,

We use SN65LVDT14QPWREP LVDS Driver/Receivers in our unit. This chip has Operating free-air Temperature range -40C...125C and Storage Temperature range -65C...150C. Our unit must start operation at -55C ambient. Will SN65LVDT14QPWREP be able to operate at -55C without being damaged, and which parameters of this IC may deteriorate during such operation?

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, we can't guarantee any specs outside of the operating free-air temperature range since that is the temperature range we characterized this device at.

I acknowledge that at -55C TI doesn't guarantees any spec parameters. The bigger issue is: will SN65LVDT14QPWREP survive being powered and attempting to operate at -55C ambient?

Hi Alex,

I don't think there should be any issue especially since device performance generally seems to improve at lower temperatures. However, since we have not tested this device at a -55C operating condition, you should conduct your own testing to confirm there's no issue since we can't guarantee that from our side.

To summarize, TI doesn't guarantee that SN65LVDT14QPWREP will survive at -55C if power is applied to the chip. Please confirm.
