TMDS1204: TMDS1204IRNQR I2C Signals Not Detected

Part Number: TMDS1204

Hi Team,

We are using the TMDS1204IRNQR IC in our design as a retimer. However, the I2C signals are not being detected. The MODE pin is in floating still I2C signals doesn't get detected.

The I2C signals used in our design are:

  • TMDS1_SCL_CTL_3V3
  • TMDS1_SDA_CTL_3V3

Could you please help us identify the possible cause of this issue and suggest a solution to detect these I2C signals?

We have also attached the schematic for your reference. We look forward to your support.

Regards,

  • Hi,

With TMDS1204 MODE pin being set to F, TMDS1204 is in I2C mode.

With TMDS1204 in I2C mode, ADDR/EQ0 pin sets the TMDS1204 7-bit I2C device address as below.

So if ADDR/EQ0 is set to "0", then the TMDS1204 I2C device address is 0x5E.

CFG0 and CFG1 will be re-purposed as SCL and SDA, please make sure there are pullup resistors on both pins to 3.3V. You can use 4.7k pullup resistors as a starting point.

Any chance you can probe the SDA and SCL to make sure the I2C controller is trying to read/write the TMDS1204 registers?

    Thanks

    David
