DS90CF384A: DS90CF384A with i.MX8M Plus based SoM Interfacing

Hello team,

I am working on a new carrier board design based on the Compulab UCM-iMX8M-Plus System-on-Module (NXP i.MX8M Plus SoC). I am using the DS90CF384AMTDX/NOPB as the LVDS-to-parallel RGB bridge between the SoM LVDS output and a Rocktech RK070CU03-CTG 7-inch 1024x600 RGB 24-bit TFT panel. I have a few questions I would like to confirm before finalising the schematic.

Question 1 : Will the TI DS90CF384A, be able to take the LVDS signals from the SoM independandtly ? Or does it only support its Transmitter Counterpart ? 

Question 2: If it wont work, shall i replace it with the DS90CF386 ? Or any other that you can suggest?

    To answer your questions:

    1. Yes, the DS90CF384A can be used to convert LVDS video to RGB/LVCMOS. It does not necessarily require using the transmitter pair (such as DS90C385A) as long as the input is LVDS video following the OLDI/LVDS specifications.


    2. Yes you can also use the DS90CF386 instead which supports a higher pixel clock rate if required. Which device you choose for this application will be dependent on the PCLK rate.
