TIDA-020060: Inductor Selection for CDN to Support 100BASE-T1 PoDL 50W (TIDA-020060)

Part Number: TIDA-020060
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-010076, TIDA-020061, MSP430G2332-EP

For TIDA-020060, the documentation specifies the use of the TDK inductor PID77S-180M (current rating: 1350 mA) to support 50 W PoDL PSE output.

However, the PID77S-180M is currently an obsolete part number.

Please provide the manufacturer and part number for a suitable alternative inductor that is guaranteed to operate correctly.

  • Hi Taskeshi Arita,

PID77S-180M should not be obsolete, please check with your TDK representative.
What is the intended functionality that you are planning to use PoDL for?

    Thanks and best regards,

  • Hi Yannik Muendler,

I was unable to find the PID77S-180M on TDK's website.
To be precise, the only models I could locate were the PID77S-251M, PID77S-560M, and PID77S-650M; however, all of these have low rated current values, so I do not believe they can support PoDL Class 9.
Consequently, I have inquired about suitable alternatives.

Ideally, I wanted to use the 100BASE-T1 and PoDL circuitry from the TIDA-010076 design exactly as is. However, since I was informed that the software for the MSP430G2332-EP could not be provided, I abandoned that plan and am now considering a combination of the TIDA-020060 and TIDA-020061 designs.

    Best regards,

    T.Arita
