TPD4S480: Short to Vbus protection inquiry

Hi expert,

customers want to confirm that if the short circuit protection of the TPD4S480 is only valide when there is power supply on Vpwr/Vbias?

If there is no supply on Vpwr/Vbias, and the adapter plug in with the CC and Vbus shortage issue, will the PD controller TPS26750 have risks to damage?

Hello Manu,

VPWR provides power to all the circuitry for the TPD4S480. Without the power supply the protection device will not function. Below from the datasheet.

The VBIAS pin requires a minimum 63-VDC rated capacitor. A 100-VDC rated capacitor is recommended to reduce capacitance derating. See screenshot from the datasheet below.
