DP83TC811S-Q1: TDA4VH-Q1 100Mbps network link failure - PHY selection issue

Part Number: DP83TC811S-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VH-Q1, TDA4VH, DP83TC811, DP83TG720S-Q1, DP83TC815-Q1, DP83TC811-Q1

DP83TC811S-Q1  100BASE-T1  -  Connects to the SGMII port of TDA4VH-Q1 via 4-wire connection.  Does this 100-megabit PHY model DP83TC811S-Q1 prevent the problem of TDA4VH-Q1's i2362 10-100M SGMII ignoring the preamble byte, which could cause link failure?

  • Hi,

TI's 100BASE-T1 PHYs should not have the issue described in the errata.

We advise against using DP83TC811. Instead please consider using DP83TC815, our newest 100M PHY with robust EMC.

    Best,

    Charles

  • Hi

Can DP83TC815-Q1 and DP83TC811-Q1 be designed with pin-to-pin compatibility? Additionally, if we choose the DP83TC811, we also need to ensure compatibility with the DP83TG720S-Q1. Can the DP83TC815 be made compatible with the DP83TG720S-Q1? Does TI provide any relevant design documentation for reference?

  • Hi Xiaomu,

DP83TC811 cannot be designed p2p compatible with DP83TG720.

Can the DP83TC815 be made compatible with the DP83TG720S-Q1?

yes. DP83TC815 can be designed for compatibility with DP83TG720. Please request access to the DP83TC815 secure folder for a common schematic design guide.

    Best,

    Charles
