DP83869HM: Inquiry regarding ETHERNET TRANSFORMERCHOKE replacement compatibility

I am currently using the HM5149NL (Pulse) component as the Ethernet Transformer Merchant for the DP83869HMRGZT product, but I plan to switch to the ALT4532V-201-T001 (TDK) component. The TI datasheet recommends an inductance of 350uH, but I am wondering if I can use the 200uH TDK component instead. (This assumes that all specifications except the inductance in the Magnetics Electrical Specification table in the TI datasheet are satisfied.)

If it is not possible to use it, are there any Ethernet physical transceivers available that can handle 200uH?

    The 350uH open circuit inductance requirement for the transformer is a part of the IEEE802.3 Ethernet standard. Therefore, only components with this inductance should be used with Standard Ethernet PHYs.

    An alternative implementation is to use a transformerless design, which is detailed here:

    I have taken your shared information into consideration.

    As a follow-up inquiry, I would like to change the Transformer to reduce the PCB size. Would it be possible to verify the Ethernet using the attached component (200UH)?

    If necessary, I can also supply samples through TI Korea.

    As this component would not follow our datasheet guidelines for the part, it would require requalifying the PHY with the 200uH transformer. This would be a very time consuming process. If you wish to evaluate this transformer with the DP83869, the most efficient next step would be for you to acquire a DP83869EVM and replace the onboard transformer with your desired one. With this board you can then perform the necessary evaluation needed for your system.
