TLIN1028-Q1: Question about recommended schematic of TLIN10285DRQ1

Dear TI experts,

Could you check the questions from my customer below?

1. About the value of capacitor on VSUP, datasheet says that it is recommended "minimum" 100nF. Is 100nF enough for VSUP? or should I increase this value regarding to specific equation?

2. What is the reason for use at least 2 vias for GND and power connection? What will happen if I use only 1 via for GND and power connection?

3. About Output ESR requirement, datasheet says that it is minimum 0.001 ohm to maximum 2 ohm.

Should it satisfied with all the frequency range? or do you have any specific frequency range for ESR requirement?

  • Hi Chase,

    1. 100 nF is the minimum and can be adjusted as needed. For example, if noisy or with long PCB traces, larger 1 uF to 10 uF near the device may improve stability.

    2. This is typical PCB layout best practice. The more vias, the less impedance and inductance for a more stable GND. If 1 is designed intentionally and works great for the system environment, then no concerns. However, this is typical for optimal performance.

    3. The specified ESD should be for the frequencies relevant to the internal LDO rather than across the entire frequency spectrum I.e, standard caps typically satisfy the requirement and as long as the cap type and value are met, the regulator stability requirements should be met, thanks.
