DP83869HM: PHY - Pulse Transformer connection pin to pin connection detail

Hello Ti Team,

We have a working board with DP83869HMRGZR and RJ45 connection doing EthernetI/P, for industrial application we need to change to M12 cable with only 4 wires  Tx+/- and Rx +/-.

Towards this we have wired up HX1188FNL and connected as below, but unable to ping

Kindly guide on the steps to establish communication

    Hi Krithi,

    Since ping is not working I have the following questions and suggestions:

    1. Do you have register access to the PHY? Is the PHY able to link up with a link partner?

    2. Have you performed any loopback testing? If not, can you try an MII loopback test as well as a reverse loopback test to see if one of these is failing.

    3. Since you are using 2 pairs on this gigabit PHY, is 1G advertisement disabled?

    4. Have you performed any isolation testing? This could be an iperf test transmitting in one direction only, then transmitting in the reverse direction. A ping test will use both the transmit and receive path so it is more difficult to narrow down where the issue is occurring. 

    5. We have a DP83869 troubleshooting guide that I recommend reading through. This guide has many checks to make sure the PHY is implemented and behaves correctly.
