TPD12S016: TPD12S016 NRND status, search for drop in replacement

Part Number: TPD12S016
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD12S521, TXS0102, TPS22943, TPS22941

Hi,

The TPD12S016PWR is now NRND, is there any drop in replacement for this chip?

Or a functional equivalent replacement?

Also When is the Last time buy date? If you cant disclose the exact date can you at least mention the mounth.

Alternatively is there any equivalent circuit reference? As in are there any I2C buffers/level shifters that TI recomends ? Also 50-55mA 5V load switches?

Best regards,

Robert

  • Hello Robert,

I will look into this and get back to you shortly.

  • Hello Robert,

Here is a list of HDMI Compansion devices. Unfortunately, I do not see any drop in replacements. I also do not see an alternative device that integrates the I2C level shifter, ESD protection, HPD support, and 5V load switch all into one device like the TPD12S016. I see from this related thread that the TPD12S521 is the closest device. It is also an HDMI Companion IC which includes the HDMI I2C level shifting function. The primary difference is the high speed ESD implementation and package.

At this time, I do not have an announced TPD12S016 EOL timeline to share. I will look into this and get back to you.

TI does not currently offer a direct equivalent reference circuit that replicates all integrated functions of the TPD12S016. For the best recommedation for I2C buffers or load switches recommendations, I would create a new E2E thread for each technology so that it gets assigned to the appropriate product lines. But for what it's worth, I did a search on TI.com and found the following:

    • TXS0102: 2-bit bidirectional auto-direction level translator
    • TPS22941/TPS22943: 5V load switch
      • Minimum current limit is 40mA or 100mA

    Thank you and best regards,

    Seong
