TUSB1046A-DCI: loopback mode

Part Number: TUSB1046A-DCI

Hi,

We are currently conducting compliance certification and have encountered the following issue: If the device fails to enter loopback mode, could it be related to the EQ settings of the TUSB1046A? Or what parameters should be adjusted to successfully enter loopback mode for testing?

  • Hi Jeff,

Yes, EQ settings could affect the performance of the RX Compliance testing, such as getting into loopback mode.

Could you send over the current EQ settings being used? Does the customer know the loss in their system between the host and the redriver, and the redriver and the connector? Did they factor this into selecting their EQ settings?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Here is the EQ setting. Customer seems don't know the total loss, if don'n know the total loss, we just can try all EQ setting, right? thanks!

  • Hi Jeff,

If the customer does not know the loss of their system, then yes the best way to test how EQ is affecting the RX loopback functionality would be to adjust the values of the EQ pins in register 0x20 by going level by level, and seeing that improves the functionality. Going by the current setting, it looks like there is room for adjustment in these bits.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

For Long Channel can't enter Loopback Mode, it also need adjust USB EQ setting, right? thanks!

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

We know that TX passes, so the SSEQx settings are correct, and should be kept the same.

We see that SC RX jtol passes, but LC RX jtol fails.

This implies that the EQX settings must be increased.

Yes, adjust EQ will help the host to go into loopback mode.
