TDP2004: Does the TDP2004 support automated DisplayPort SI compliance testing?

Part Number: TDP2004
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDP142, SN75DP130

Hi sir,

Does the TDP2004 support automated DisplayPort SI compliance testing?

Is TDP2004 suitable for a DP1.4 HBR3 design? Can it pass DisplayPort SI compliance testing, or would you recommend a different device?

  • Sean

TDP2004 is a linear re-driver so it will faithfully reproduce the source signal as long as the source signal is within its linearity range. As long as the source is DP compliant, TDP2004 will pass the compliance as well.

We have tested TDP2004 and it will pass DP compliance all the way up to DP2.1 UHBR20 data rate. You can also use TDP142 as an alternate solution.

    Thanks

  • Hi David,

Adlink previous design uses the SN75DP130, which supports Link Training and appears to perform automatic SI optimization through the AUX channel.

However, I did not find any AUX pins on the TDP2004.

Does the TDP2004 not require an AUX connection to complete DisplayPort Link Training and automatic SI optimization? Or is AUX unnecessary for passing the full DisplayPort SI compliance test?

Could you please clarify how the TDP2004 handles Link Training and signal optimization?

  • Sean

The TDP2004 does not have AUX pins as it is a re-driver intended to support both DP2.1 and HDMI2.1. The AUX and HPD will have to be implemented externally as shown in below example.

All the link training command/request will go through the AUX bus while TDP2004 handles the main link signal optimization.

    Thanks

    David
