TCA9534: TCA9534PWR Lifecycle and Low-Cost Alternative Request

Hello,

We are planning to use the TCA9534PWR 8-bit I/O expander in our design.

We would like to confirm the expected product lifecycle and long-term availability of this part. Please let us know if there are any planned EOL/NRND or obsolescence concerns for the TCA9534PWR.

Our requirements are:

  • 8-bit I/O expander

  • I²C interface

  • Bidirectional/configurable I/O

  • Long-term availability

  • Lowest possible cost

If the TCA9534PWR has any lifecycle limitations, please suggest a suitable alternative that meets the above requirements. We would especially appreciate a lower-cost alternative with similar functionality and a long-term supply commitment.

Please also share the datasheet, lifecycle status, and pricing of the recommended alternative.

    Hi Tech,

    The datasheet can be found online. 

    This device does not have an EOL plan. 

    Pricing information is not provided on the e2e forum. I checked the product page pricing. The TCAL6408PWR is comparable to the price of the TCA9534, but includes more features and dual-supply. The tradeoff is the # of I2C addresses allotted.

    Thank you for your response and for suggesting the TCA6408PWR.

    We have reviewed the suggested part, and we are also open to using the TCA6408PWR in our new design.

    However, our main concern is the long-term availability of the parts, as this is a new design and we expect a long production lifetime.

    Could you please provide information on the expected long-term availability of both:

    • TCA9534PWR

    • TCA6408PWR

    If possible, please let us know whether TI can provide any assurance or commitment regarding how many years these parts are expected to remain available for production.

    If the TCA6408PWR has better long-term availability than the TCA9534PWR, we are open to using the TCA6408PWR.

    TCA9534PWR, TCA6408PWR, and TCAL6408PWR do not have EOL plans.
