TPS1686: How to calculate R SFT_SEL

Hi TIer

 

My customer use TPS16860 in system. And test different Resistor on SFT_SEL to see the change.

We follow the Table 7-1.

We see 1.5 * I ocp is correct protect at 8A.

but 2 * I ocp not protect at 15A , which can accept high than 20A current.

Do you know why , and how to calculate the correct RsFT_SEL? 

We need a formal to help we understand the design.
