TUSB1146: Regarding equalization

Regarding equalization, the customer has several questions:

1. According to datasheet 8.2 Functional Block Diagram, is the SSTX's EQ, the so-called Linear Redriver, a function that compensates for the routing losses from the module/CPU/PCH to the TUSB1146, ensuring the signal read by the TUSB1146 isn't too messy?

2. The driver after the MUX can retransmit the signal, but regardless of the original module/CPU/PCH's driving capabilities, subsequent wiring is limited to 4 inches.

3. If I understand question 1 correctly, the module I'm using has a driving capability of 6000 mils, and based on the board material, the trace attenuation is 0.6 dB/inch. So, in the EQ settings, should I set EQ1=0, EQ0=1 >> EQ Gain=4.5Db compensation?

    The TUSB1146 functionality is highlighted below. The regions in green will be compensated for, the regions in red will need to be compensated by the host or the downstream USB device.

    If the 0.6dB/ inch measured at 5GHz? 

    If that is the case. then yes approx. 4.5dB of compensation will be sufficient. However, keep in  mind real world losses may exceed that of simulation. Some additional EQ tuning may be required.
