TRSF3232E: TRSF3232EIDR: can customer use same caps required for MAX3232?

Part Number: TRSF3232E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MAX232

team, my customer is migrating from MAX232 (115200 br) to TRSF3232EID in order to improve baud rate to 460800. looking at datasheet of TRSF, we reccomend C1=0.47uF and C2/3/4=0.33uF @5V while MAX232 values are 1uF for C1/2/3/4.

Can my customer keep 1uF and replace only the device in order to operate at higher BR since both pns are p2p?

Thanks

  • Hi Raphael,

I would recommend that your customer change their cap values. We only guarantee the device performance with those exact cap values. They are welcome to test and validate the TRS device with the 1uF caps, but the RS-232 output could be affected. Just note if they do use the 1uF values, we cannot provide further support.

    Best,

    Ethan
