Hi, Im curious to know if there is a way to get essentially a pixel value histogram from the TVP5150AM1IPBSR over the I2C interface? Or pixel statistics in general?

Hello Jake,
This device no longer has any design support from TI as indicated on the product folder so support is limited to what is currently available on existing documentation.
I did a quick check and it does not appear that there is any way to determine histogram, average luminance, min/max pixel value, or similar statistics registers. I2C on this device is purely a control/configuration interface.
Status Register #1 Peak white detect (bit 7 of 0x88) is the closest thing to a pixel measurement - it tells you if maximum luma (white) was detected in the active video area, but it's a 1-bit flag, not a statistic.
If you need pixel statistics, they would have to be gathered downstream - either by reading the 8-bit parallel YUV video output with a frame buffer + CPU/FPGA, or by using a video capture device with a built-in ISP that supports histograms.
Thanks,
Chris
