DP83867IR: Long Term Support for DP83867IR Phy IC.

  • Please confirm long term support for DP83867IR. I am looking for next 10-15 years. 
  • Can I also use this part with 10/100M MAC without any loss of functionality. My design has both 10/100 & 1G MACs.
  • Please also suggest an equivalent part to integrate with 10/100M MAC with long term support of 10-15 years.
  • Can 1588 functionlity be disabled(configurable).

    Hi Neeraj,

    1. There are no plans to stop support for DP83867. While it is difficult to guarantee 10+ years, we tend to support these parts for a long time. For example, the DP83848K was released in 2008 and is still available with many public documentation and forum support cases still coming in. Thats 18+ years with no end in sight Slight smile. DP83867 is a far newer part (almost 10 years newer than DP83848) and I do not expect this to be discontinued anytime soon.

    2. Yes you can use DP83867 with a 10/100M MAC, though a 10/100M PHY like DP83826A may be more straightforward.

    3. Other parts for 10/100M MACs are DP83826A (MII/RMII), DP83825 (RMII), and DP83822 (MII/RMII/RGMII). Similar to DP83867 these are newer parts that have no plans to discontinue support.

    4. Yes 1588 functionality on DP83867 can be disabled. This would be the SFD signals on GPIO pins.

    Please also suggest 1G PHY with same 10-15 years of support with & without IEEE 1588.

    Hi Neeraj,

    The 1G PHYs we offer are DP83867 and DP83869. Both of these have optional 1588 SFD indicators, which are disabled by default.

    There are no plans to discontinue support for either of these PHYs.
