TLIN1028-Q1: Question about thermal characteristics (TLIN10283DRBRQ1)

Part Number: TLIN1028-Q1

Dear TI experts,

My customer now test TLIN10283DRBRQ1 in their own PCB.

Input is 12V car battery, and output is 3.3V / less than 10mA.

the temperature rises about 3℃ compared to ambient temperature. This is not a big deal but the application is humidity sensor, so it has more error rate.

As you know the device includes LDO, so I know that it should have rising temperature. Just I want to know if there is any ways to lower temperature rising.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

I assume they've got something like an MCU and a humidity sensor, both being sourced by the TLIN10283? For 10mA they've probably already done some power optimization as well. The lower they can get the total system awake time and the current consumption the better obviously.

They might have more success approaching this from the perspective of isolating the sensor from the self heating of the transceiver using a cutout (see here https://www.ti.com/lit/snoaa01). Its also possible to try and adjust for that 3C difference in software, but that method requires they do some system characterization.
