AM2434: AM2434 Gateway

Part Number: AM2434

Hello Team Ti,

We have built a single protocol device(EthernetIP or EtherCAT). To connect to different PLC's in market we need one unit to be able to read EthernetIP in one Ethernet port and convert to EtherCAT on the other Ethernet and vice versa, basically a multi protocol gateway. Kindly suggest the suitable Hardware and Software stack to accomplish this function.

Thx

  • Hi kannabiran,

Please note that the standard EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT stacks both require two Ethernet ports. Therefore, a single-port EtherNet/IP or EtherCAT product using the standard SDK is not supported.

If you wish to use the standard SDK, a 4-port solution is required, where each pair of ports is controlled by a separate stack and its corresponding ICSSG instance. In this case, the AM243x-EVM or AM64x-EVM can be used along with an Ethernet expansion board to accommodate this configuration.

However, if a single-port protocol implementation is required, please contact your local TI Sales office for more details regarding this custom solution.
Additionally, it is worth considering how the mapping and bridging between the two protocols will be implemented. As far as I am aware, there is no standard specification defining this type of gateway configuration, which means you would need to develop and implement your own custom mapping logic.
    Best regards,
    Pourya
