I am trying to protect the Y/Z output pins of the SN65LVDS31MDREP from ESD using a TVS diode.
Are there any ESD devices recommended for this output?
If not, do you have any information, such as the allowable voltage, needed for selecting the external TVS for the Y/Z pin?

Hi Nam,

Welcome to the E2E forums.

There are some recommendations in the System-Level ESD Protection Guide that are specific to LVDS (see section 3.10).

Those devices seem like good options to me, but just in case I'll move this thread to our protection devices team to see if they have any updated recommendations.

Bryan,

The Y/Z pins could tolerate VCC + 0.5 or 4.5V in the ABS max case for VCC.

If the allowable maximum voltage is around 4V, is the ESD122 IC you provided not suitable for protection because its Vcl is at least 6.4V?

Hi Team,

Nam you are correct. This is a scenario where we would require a deep snapback diode which we do not have in our portfolio yet. We are releasing a device with this technology next year, but as of now we do not have a solution.
