Hello,

I am looking for an easy solution to convert 1000Base-T1 to 1000Base-X signals (similar to a media converter, but specifically for T1). Does Texas offer a solution for this application ?

I imagine with dp83869hm and DP83TG721S-Q1 i can make a media converter, 1000Base-T1 to 1000Base-X. Is it possible with just strap configuration? Do you know of any other solutions?

    Hi Florent,

    You can look at our DP83TG721EVM-MC as a rough example.  I think the key change would be using DP83869 instead of DP83867.  You would use RGMII to interface between DP83TG721S-Q1 and DP83869.

    One thing you need to be mindful of is the RGMII shift.

    • On DP83869, default behavior is RGMII shift mode is enabled
    • On DP83TG721S-Q1, you can strap into RGMII align mode or shift mode.  You would likely select align mode since DP83869 is in shift mode.  For 1000Mbps, there is a higher probability that some fine tuning of RGMII shift/delay could be required.  You might consider adding an MCU to configure the PHYs in case additional configuration is required.

    Thank you for your response. I fully understand how to use the DP83869, and I'm trying to do the same with the DP83TG721S-Q1. Would it be possible to get a more detailed datasheet for the DP83TG721S-Q1?
