Part Number: TUSB8020B

Hello,

I am developing a USB 3.0 hub using the TUSB8020B and an external I2C EEPROM.

I would like to obtain the Windows-based EEPROM programming utility for the TUSB8020B.

Could you please provide the latest version of the TUSB8020B EEPROM programming tool?

    Hello,

    Hi Ryan,
    Thank you very much for sending me the EEPROM programming tool and the user guides.
    I was able to launch the programming tool successfully after following the instructions to force-load the programming driver.

    Hi Ryan,

    I have purchased the TUSB8020BEVM and would like to modify the USB Configuration Descriptor of the TUSB8020B, specifically the bmAttributes and bMaxPower values.
    Could you please let me know how these values can be modified?
    Can they be changed by updating the EEPROM configuration data?
    If a specific configuration tool (such as the Hub Configuration Tool) or a binary format specification is required, could you please provide it?

    No, these values cannot be modified via EEPROM. 

    bmAttributes is used to read the hub power configuration, however TUSB8020B is always self-powered and will always show a MaxPower of 0A, so this cannot be changed.

    Thank you for your clarification.

    I have two additional questions:

    1、If the TUSB8020B is used in a bus-powered product, is it acceptable to keep the USB Configuration Descriptor as Self-Powered with MaxPower = 0 mA?
    2、Does TI have another USB 3.0 hub IC that supports two USB 3.0 downstream ports in a bus-powered configuration and allows the USB Configuration Descriptor, including bmAttributes and bMaxPower, to be modified?

    We recommend against using the TUSB8020B in bus-powered applications, as the power draw required to support both the TUSB8020B and the current needed by the downstream ports may exceed what is allowed on VBUS. If possible, we recommend using the TUSB8020B in self-powered mode only.

    We do not have any other hub that supports bus-powered configuration or adjusting the USB Configuration Descriptor.
