Howdy,

I am looking to use a DS90UB984-Q1 as a data output for a signal that has been converted from LVDS to FPD-Link using a DS90C387AVJD. While many of the connections on the DES make sense from mirroring the SER configuration, the datasheet doesn't give any support on the pin functions and how to deal with unused pins. I am not carrying anything other than the dual FPD Link video feeds and the SPI interface between the two and am going straight to a Displayport receptical so I would like more information to properly configure all of the pins on the DS90UB984-Q1 with the bare bones output headed to a capture card. Layout guidance would also be appreciated.

Hello Will,

The DS90C387A does convert 2x 24-bit RGB inputs to 8 LVDS+CLK outputs at PCLK range of 32.5-112MHz. Which makes it not compatible with the UB984.

Unfortunately, we do not have a compatible Deserializer with display port output interface.

Howdy Hamzeh,

Is there a product, or series of products, that is compatible with the UB984 when the raw sensor output is in LVDS format and I would need to define the HSYNC and VSYNC signals anyway? Right now I have a signal chain of the sensor LVDSes (coming off of ADS9254s) into SN65LVELT23DR converters that feed the DS90C387A as my initial take on a high data rate interface with downstream COTS capture support via DP to HDMI conversion. Going raw HDMI 2.0+ would also meet my needs as I'm trying to avoid an FPGA at this point in development.

Hello Will,

Will the DS90UB947 Serializer work for you? It has an OLDI (LVDS) input interface and it can be paired with the UB984 with DP output.

Hamzeh,

I should have looked closer at my schematic, I have a DS90UB947 in between the DS90C387A and the UB984. If this works, is there more documentation for what to do with the unused pins like the MODE and RES pins on the UB984?

Hi Will,

Can't see the details on the schematic unfortunately. the resolution is too low.

However, using the UB947 between the other two devices should work fine.

For more details about the UB984 you will need to get access to our internal portal, which required a valid NDA with Texas Instruments/ FPD-Link product line.
