TPS65994AE: The issue for TPS66994

Part Number: TPS65994AE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS66994

Hi,

Because of there are no TPS66994 option and we have some issue for TPS66994:

  1. Attached is the schematic for our TPS66994 PD+Retimer+TYPE-C interface, primarily based on the PTL-H CRB drawing (Intel document number 852069). Please help review and confirm.S1542-00_PTL-H_USB4_TI REVIEW.pdf
  2. Our design is slightly different from CRB. The main differences lie in the following aspects of ours:
    1) For I2C1, we connected the BMC instead of the EC, and it is only used for firmware updates.
    2) CRB supports both 5V and 20V voltage outputs, with the 5V output controlled by the internal load switch and the 20V output controlled by the PA_PPEXT and PB_PPEXT pins.
  3. We do not use the 5V load switch inside the TPS66994. Instead, the load switch outside is used for the output:
  4. The below is the request:                                                                                                            1) We support three voltage output specifications: 5V, 12V, and 20V.
    2) All load switches are controlled by an independent MCU.
    3) This MCU will monitor the CC logic communication content and control the corresponding load switch switch according to the voltage required by the protocol.
    4) We hope that PD detects the corresponding sink device connection and raises PA_PPEXT (PIN43) / PB_PPEXT (PIN51), while the MCU detects the rising edge and will turn on the corresponding 5V power supply.
    5) At any time, if PD detects the sink device being unplugged, please pull down the corresponding PA_PPEXT (PIN43) / PB_PPEXT (PIN51), and the MCU will turn off all load switches.
    6) When monitoring that the communication decides to switch to a higher voltage, the MCU will turn on the corresponding voltage load switch and turn off the other load switches.
  5. For the MCU, it is designed by our client themselves. Could you please confirm the current requirements? Is the TPS65994EBAREPR capable of meeting them?
If it is possible, how should the subsequent driver customization be coordinated?
  6. We have Gerber now, and this is very urgent because the local TI FAE feedback us the TPS65994EBAREPR can't support the request, and can you help to provide the available part# or soluton to solve this issue, thanks.
