SN65HVD33-EP: Question regarding series resistor

Part Number: SN65HVD33-EP

Hi i am using  SN65HVD33MDREP.Should the series 10 ohm resistors come before or after the terminating resistor. In some reference design the series resistor comes after the terminating resistor but in layout guidelines of  SN65HVD33MDREP the series resistor comes before the terminating resistor.

Also should the RE* be plled down and DE pulled up for reliable operation.

  • Hi Karthikeyan,

For optimal protection the series resistor would come between the IC and everything else (so before the terminating resistor). If it is put after the termination resistor that is likely ok, but it definitely has to be between the IC and any TVS diodes.

Adding pull-up or down resistors to the enable lines is recommended to limit noise and drive the line more strongly. Generally I would recommend adding a pull up to RE* and pull down to DE to limit any glitches during power up.
