TUSB1046-DCI: No Longer Using DP0, AUXN, HPDIN Pins

Part Number: TUSB1046-DCI

TI E2E,

I've a design layout which was previously intended to leverage the displayport switching capabilities of the TUSB1046-DCI, but we've decided not to include this functionality at this rev of the board. Still keeping the copper on the PCB to support future developments, but the mating component (SN65DSI86IPAPQ1) will be left DNI.

Is it safe to leave the DP0, AUXN, AUXP, and HPDIN lines floating since the SN65DSI86IPAPQ1 is no longer attached? Or do certain pullups/pulldowns need to be placed?

  • Hello,

So there is no display port functionality being used, correct? If that's the case, the DP pins can be left floating, yes.

If there is no DP functionality, then the AUX/SBU and HPD pins can also be left floating, yes.

Are you using GPIO or I2C mode to control the mux?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

We're using GPIO's from a USB-PD device (TPS65987DDHRSHR) to control the mux switching. I2C pins have been left floating.

  • Hello,

Understood. In that case, please ensure the PD controller is correctly setting the CTL pins of the TUSB1046-DCI. The redriver should be set to only USB3.1 mode

    Thanks,

    Ryan
