DS90CF364 EVM Board information

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90CF364, FLINK3V8BT-85, DS90CF364A, SN75LVDS86A

Hi

I'm interested with DS90CF364 EVM.

According to the web, the EVM would be FLINK3V8BT-85/NOPB.

However the chipset inside is

  • One Transmitter board with the DS90C385MTD - 28 bit Transmitter
  • One Receiver board with the DS90C386MTD - 28 bit Receiver

Can I just replace the DS90C385 with DS90CF364A?

Kindly advise.

Thanks

  • Greetings -

With the DS90Cxxxxx family of 21 and 28 bit FPD-Link parts only one EVM is currently offered for the family.  It is for the 85MHz 28 bit versions - FLINK3V8BT-85/NOPB.

It is possible to remove and substitute different 28 bit parts (56L TSSOP footprint) if desired.  The DS90CF364A is a 21 bit part in a 48 L TSSOP footprint, it is not footprint compatible thus will not drop in.  The difference between the 21 and 28 bit parts is a 4th data channel is all.   One can also simply connect the outputs from the three channels and connect to a 21 bit display from this part if desired also.  Please compare the datasheets for more details.

  • Like John said, you can simply use a subset of the available I/Os for 18-bit color.

On the non-NSC side, we have EVMs for the SN75LVDS86A & SN75LVDS96, which are directly 18-bit.
