Hi, 

 

We are interested in using DP83640 in a new design at Hitachi Energy.

Apparently, this component was introduced back in 2007 (almost 20 years ago).

Can you please inform us if you have plans to phase out this line, or if you are expecting a possible phase-out due to fabrication issues, or any other short-term and long-term threats?

Can you please verify if you're expecting DP83640 to remain in the market for at least another ten years?

    Hi SS,

    There are currently no plans to Phase out DP83640. I'm not expecting a phase-out for this device, and while I cannot guarantee 10 years of continued production, we tend to support these PHYs for a very long time Slight smile

    For my own curiosity, why is DP83640 the choice for this new design? We have newer 10/100M standard ethernet PHYs so I am wondering why DP83640 is preferred.
