Supporting large capacity SSD using TUSB6250

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB6250

Hi,

We have a product which is using TUSB6250 as a bridge between USB and PATA.
The firmware file is "v00.00.02.20.562AD403.Default.hex".
Unfortunately, TUSB6250 seems not to recognize the 32GB SSD which we plan to use.
Are there newer version of the firmware?
I'd appreciate your help.

Regards,

Tetsuo Maeda

  • Hello,

We cannot duplicate this issue in the lab.  Which PATA drive is being used?

  • Hi, Julie,
    Thank you for your follow-up.
    The situation is as follows.
Toshiba 40GB HDD : MK4050GAC  => Our customer reports that the connection is unstable and that an error occurs sometimes. We have not generated the error in our lab.
Super Talent SSD : FHM32GW25H => TUSB6250 seems not to recognize this SSD. We have confirmed the phenomena in our lab.
    I'd appreciate your response.
    Kind Regards,
    Tetsuo Maeda

  • Hello Tetsuo,

I was unable to purchase those specific SSDs, but I have ordered similar capacity SSDs.  I will post test results after I have received them.

    Regards,

    Julie

  • Hi Julie,

    Thank you for your support.

    There have been a progress.
We tried to send a command that sets the SSD to mode0 before we start accessing it.
Then, PC recognized the SSD and we can access it without problem.
It seems that the issue might be the data transfer rate.

I think we have almost solved the problem regarding SuperTalent SSD.

On the other hand, the issue of Toshiba 40GB HDD (MK4050GAC) was not solved using the above procedure.

I'd appreciate it if you help us solve the issue regarding accessing MK4050GAC using TUSB6250.

    Regards,

    Tetsuo

  • Hello Tetsuo,

I'm wondering what's the status of this. Is the reported disk still failing?

We bought a Trascend IDE SSD model TS32GSSD25-M (which was the only PATA SSD we were able to get) and it worked without problems.
