TCAN1145-Q1: VSUP drop during initialisation - device status

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

Hello,

During system boot up, there is KL30 VSUP interuption test, that drops from 16V to ~4V.
Below scope shot of supply voltages and SPI communication captured with Saleae analyzer. Keep in mind the Vsup trace voltage must be multiplied by 2.
As you can see 5V and 3V3 remain stable, only Vsup drops below 4V.

After this event TCAN1145-Q1 is not responsing to standard MCU SPI intialisation commands from MCU. CAN communication is not working either.

What mode TCAN1145-Q1 might be "latched" ? How to detect what mode it is at - is reading the mode control register and checking the status of the POR and UVsup interrupt flags enough?
Also, lastly: how to "un latch" it?

  • Hi Piotr,

TCAN1145 enters standby mode in a UVSUP condition. The SPI interface will be available after VSUP recover.

This doesn't seem like TCAN1145 is latched, more likely the controller is not configuring TCAN correctly, it needs to put the TCAN into normal mode to transmit CAN message.

is reading the mode control register and checking the status of the POR and UVsup interrupt flags enough?

    Yes.
